FMP Concept and Origin

The whole idea for my final major project is to base it on something i enjoy doing or something i have a passion for, for i will be spending the best part of 6 months creating it, so it couldn't be something i would get bored of in a few weeks. I spend most of my free-time either watching movies or playing video games, i have been playing games since before i can remember so before i even started to narrow down what my FMP was going to be based on, i knew video games would be a main aspect of it.
When I'm not playing games or watching films, i am on my laptop surfing the web, and most of that time, i find myself on Youtube watching compilations people have spent endless hours creating, some are good, others aren't. I find watching these videos really inspires me and at times calms me and allows me to work easier. The videos can be of absolutely anything you want them to be, there are ones of sport, tv shows, movies and of course video games. It has really interested me because you will out as i did, that music you didnt find appealing or interesting before, well when it is put with some footage of a game or what ever, it takes on a new meaning and you might find something you like in there that you didnt before. Take for example, the game Killzone 2, you would expect stereotypical music for that game to be rock or heavy metal because that's just how people think and react. However one of the trailers approaching the release of the game back in February, had something quite different in mind.
Here is the link to the trailer so you can see it for yourself :

The name of the trailer is 'Ballet of Death' and when you think of music that fits a game such as Killzone 2, that trailer is completely in the other direction and yet it still works i feel, it takes on a totally different feel to most trailers and it stands out in the crowd.
You will find compilations with fast paced music set with short, quick clips of footage, while on the other hand, you will also come across slower paced music coupled with not necessarily longer clips but not as fast so it strikes a balance with the music that has been chosen. That is what i find most appealing and attractive to creating my own music compilations and videos, for each one you create, it is totally unique in its own way, either the clips you have chosen, or the music to go with it, maybe even the order of clips throughout the compilation, the possibilities are almost endless for the source of material is massive.
At the end of the day, the goal I'm aiming for is to push myself and create music videos that i can be proud of, whilst trying to change the way people look and think about music mixed with footage, taking two conflicting ideas and shove them together, just like what the Killzone 2 trailer did and see what happens when the dust settles.
